Course Prerequisites
To enroll in the PADI Rescue Diver Course, you must: ✔ Hold a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent from another agency)
✔ Have CPR & First Aid training within the past 24 months (can be completed during the course)
✔ Be at least 12 years old (12-14-year-olds earn Junior Rescue Diver certification)
✔ Be medically fit to dive (see medical declaration)
✔ Complete the course manual review sections before the course start date
How the Course is Structured
This 3-day course includes a mix of theory, pool training, and open-water practice: Day 1 – Theory session with knowledge review and a short exam, followed by pool training to practice essential rescue techniques. Day 2 – Open water training, where you’ll apply your skills in real-world conditions until you feel 100% comfortable. Day 3 – Scenario Day, where you’ll respond to various simulated rescue situations and be evaluated on your reactions and problem-solving skills.
Course Equipment
You’ll use standard scuba gear, plus a pocket mask for in-water resuscitation. Your instructor will guide you on additional recommended gear, such as a first aid kit, which will benefit you throughout your diving career.
